If you’re building, renovating or simply ready to transform your home, make sure you visit award-winning Wairarapa painting and decorating specialists Stark Contrasts at the Masterton Home & Lifestyle Show.
Stark Contrasts has built a reputation for exceptional workmanship, meticulous attention to detail and beautifully finished homes throughout the Wairarapa. Specialising in high-quality residential painting, new builds, renovations, expert wallpaper installation and decorative finishes, the team brings skill, experience and an exacting eye to every project.
As Registered Master Painters, that commitment to craftsmanship has now earned Stark Contrasts significant national recognition. At the 2026 Master Painters New Zealand Awards, the company won the national title for Best New Interior Under $30,000, as well as three Gold Awards — with every project entered receiving Gold. Following another Gold Award in 2025, Stark Contrasts has now achieved four Gold Awards across two consecutive years.
The award-winning interior showcased exactly the kind of detailed work Stark Contrasts has become known for. High ceilings, extensive ply-and-batten detailing, custom-built elements and doors finished to a striking high gloss demanded precision throughout. It’s the sort of project where preparation and attention to the smallest details make all the difference — and where the quality of the finished work speaks for itself.
But you don’t need an award-entry home to benefit from that same level of care.
Whether you’re refreshing a single room, renovating your entire home or starting from the ground up, paint and wall finishes can completely change the way a space looks and feels. From beautifully prepared interior and exterior paintwork to designer wallpapers and statement walls, Stark Contrasts combines technical expertise with an eye for design to help homeowners achieve a finish that elevates the whole space.
Wallpaper in particular is enjoying a resurgence, bringing pattern, texture, warmth and personality back into interiors. Used thoughtfully, it can turn an otherwise simple room into something distinctive and personal, while pairing beautifully with contemporary paint colours and finishes.
But wallpaper is also one of those finishes where expert installation really matters. Pattern matching, wall preparation, joins, corners and final detailing can make the difference between a feature that simply looks good and one that looks exceptional. With specialist expertise in both painting and wallpaper installation, Stark Contrasts can help you choose the right approach for your space and deliver the high-quality finish it deserves.
If wallpaper is part of your plans — or you’ve seen a design you love but aren’t quite sure how to make it work in your own home — bring your ideas along and talk to the Stark Contrasts team at the show.
